I already related how my Houston brother's house suffered a lightning hit earlier this year, killing his generator, AC, humidifier, and dishwasher. Our house had a hit earlier this week, close enough to trigger the GFI on our garage door opener. Then yesterday he was out putting the roof on a DIY gazebo when lightning hit the neighbor's tree. He was OK, but the surge protector on his wife's computer switched off.

I remember, I think, you telling me about a lightning hit recently when we were in SD. Another freeper or FreeQ was injured by lightning, and I recall him telling his story - it involved him in the process of disconnecting the roof antenna due to an incoming storm and the strike coming as he was in that process.
Lightning is potent, no doubt. The storm is close, if not here already.
