One thing about Europe is how tiny the countries are compared to the US:
So for Europeans to head to their capital city, for instance, it’s much easier to get there than for people in the US to get to DC or one major city.
I lived in a European capital city for a couple years in the ‘80s, and it would have taken 5 minutes or less for tens of thousands of people to gather in the streets, just by going outside! You’re talking many miles of narrow streets of 4 story buildings full of small apartments, many with shops or businesses on the ground floor. Shoot, just going out shopping or walking to work every day, I would pass thousands of pedestrians, and not think twice about it. A different lifestyle from the USA in so many ways!
Example - Poland, which is a pretty big country compared to many in Europe, is about the same size as New Mexico.
