NEW - Capitol Police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6 set to step forward in an interview with NBC on Thursday after the government previously declined to identify him because of security concerns.
Lt. Michael L. Byrd:
“I feared for my safety & all those in the Capitol that day. I am deeply sorry I had to do what I had to do, but I feel it was a justified shooting & the report agrees with me.
