A decade ago a top US general in Afghan than promised me personally we would leave nothing behind. If we can’t take them when our military left why didn’t we destroy our abandoned weapons?

If you listened closely, @PentagonPresSec just answered the weapons question in a way that left the idea of the Taliban having our weapons as a viable policy option.
