“Roy...just so handsome.”
Aww thx. That’s what I always called Roy for a nickname, “handsome”. He was just sweet inside and out. Although he had super long and thick hair, it very rarely matted. Unlike his sisters. And he loved to be brushed, to be groomed. He would purr and he would hold his head up so I could comb out his mane. And if he ever did have a matt he would sit there patiently while I worked it out. Unlike his sisters.
This is the sad part, I never realized how much he loved me until about six months ago. Right before we moved. I would always come into a room and he would be purring. Wherever he was laying. I just thought he purred all the time. I went downstairs to hubby’s office one day and corduroy was sitting there purring. I said something about it and hubby said that he only started purring when I came in the room. All these years, about fifteen and a half of them, and I never knew that. I hope I gave him enough special attention. It was hard with somewhere between three and four cats and a dog.
That is so sweet, CB. It reminds me of any old expression about people:
There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who brighten a room when they enter, and those who brighten a room when they leave.
Sounds like you brought love into the room in your kitty’s world. That’s a nice thought.
I’m sure he thought you were the best mom in the world.
What a true gentleman Roy was.
And, what a sweet memory he left you....that you were his favorite (maybe only!) ‘purr’.
