This is a horrific bit of history: In the 1940s and ‘50s, Quaker Oats and MIT conducted experiments by feeding radioactive oatmeal to unsuspecting young boys at the Fernald State School. A settlement for $1.85 million was reached in January 1998 for 30 victims that came forward.
