It was just a logical conclusion that it would increase costs. Producers are probably holding out to see if California blinks, and if not, a deal will be made somewhere as long as the producers make their profit.
When I went on the swamp tour in Louisiana, we stopped by a wild pig. The guide was telling us how fast they reproduce and says a lot of states pay a bounty on dead pigs. Maybe some Californians can capture them alive to take to slaughter house?

I think you might be on to something with the wild pigs, Rusty. Looks like California, New Mexico and Texas also have their issues with wild pigs. Arizona has the javelina, which is a different species. Let California round them up and take care of their own pork supply!
