WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. Police officer who defended the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 insurrection by a pro-Trump mob has died by suicide.
Officer Gunther Hashida, an 18-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department,
is the third officer who responded to the Capitol that day who has died by suicide.
“Officer Gunther Hashida, assigned to the Emergency Response Team within the Special Operations Division, was found deceased in his residence on Thursday, July 29,” a department spokesperson said in a statement released Monday afternoon.
“We are grieving as a Department as our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Hashida’s family and friends.”
Hashida is the second D.C. Police officer who has died by suicide after the January 6 attack.
US Capitol Police Officer Howard Liebengood, a 16-year Capitol Police veteran,
also responded to the insurrection and later died by suicide.

Suicide or Suicided?
May I venture to suggest:
Officer Gunther Hashida
DIDN’T KILL HIMSELF.
In my opinion, suicided. They took the oath and they’re seeing what the democrats and RINOs are doing to the country, how they’re shredding the constitution, and they can’t live with it. They try to speak up and suddenly become suicidal.
