The urban "elites" who run these crime-ridden cities invariably live in upscale sections of the city - far from the crime areas. Or they live in a residential building with a fulltime doorman ensuring that nobody unsavory gets into the building - as is the case here in Manhattan. Particularly in the Upper East side.

So it is easy for them not to care about the violence and crime their policies cause for everybody else.

And, this is why it so delighted me to hear that Barbara Boxer got mugged in Oakland the other day. She is a horrible person and ........ nevermind. Anyhoo, sow and so shall yee reap. She helped create the mess that is Oakland and it is gratifying that she got a taste, a personal taste, of what everybody else there has to deal with on a daily basis. I’ve worked in Oakland, it is a cesspit.
