Why consider buying a home in one of the worst areas of the state? Avoid Jackson, Greenwood, Greenville, Vicksburg, any area adjacent to the Delta. The Golden Triangle area is nice; Columbus, Tupelo, Oxford. The Gulf Coast is a good choice, especially Ocean Springs, St Martin area, Bay St Louis and Pass Christian are great, just stay north of the rail road tracks to avoid storm surge. The Piney Woods area (that’s where I live) is a decent retirement area, but there is little opportunity for good wages. Check out HGTV reruns of Home Town. It’s about my home town.
