This may be the most absurd thread ever on FR.

Nobody serious has used the CDC PCR since commercial PCR became widely available. We started using the Quad as soon as it became available. We’ve had Biofire for 14 months.

So, CDC is officially absurd and obsolete??

I will not argue, about that.

From the article/tweet/post....

"After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel"

So, per the CDC, this will be AFTER 12/31/21 that they'll withdraw.

Maybe you meant that the CDC was (again) absurd and not this thread...that is pointing out the absurdity of the CDC?

FTA/tweet....

"CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses."

Dated.....7/21/21....from.....the CDC....

The (formal) withdrawal of the useless CDC PCR test, which never achieved general clinical use, is a sort of non-story.

The suggestion to use multichannel tests that distinguish the other human coronaviruses, RSV, influenza A&B, parainfluenza, and metapneumovirus from SARS-CoV 2 is not going to change practice because everybody does that already, and in our case has been used for > 1 year.

It’s another embarrassment for the boys from Atlanta, but although their glory days are long past, they do seem to have good survival skills in the bureaucratic jungle.
