I presume they are giving him dexamethasone (Decadron). If they are not, ask why not.

There is no evidence that either hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin is beneficial in this advanced state of disease. The data on Regeneron (which is fantastic in early and mid-stage symptomatic disease, thank you President Trump) is that it makes ventilated patients worse and should never be used in these circumstances.

Prayers up for recovery.

This whole thing is so frustrating. Early on, the supplies of the monoclonal antibodies were so limited that it was hard to get unless you were old and sick.

I think that the supplies have loosened up now, but still there are people like this man who obviously would have benefited in hindsight from them during the viral phase of the disease, and is now on a ventilator. Terrible.

There are those on this board who (rightly) urge early use of Regeneron’s REGN-COV2 or Lilly’s bamlanivimab, but the FDA still requires that the patient have a positive antigen test, and be at high risk of progressing to more serious disease. So what are we left with? Stay home and you’ll probably get better on your own, which is true in the vast majority of cases, but not always, as we see here.

The entire public health response has been a complete disaster, and appears to be solely directed at whatever political gain the Democrat party can extract from the situation.
