Great music.
His Violin solo in the song DUST IN THE WIND was a tour de force!
RIP.
He’s now at the point of no return
:(
I heard “People Of The Southwind” on the radio today. That is another lesser known Kansas song.
One of my favorite bands. I’m sad to hear this.
It was, of course, “The Point of Know Return”.
Great working of the violin into rock songs. There might have been times when Kansas tried to do too much, but when it worked, it really worked. Nobody innovates like that anymore.
Boy, the author is a real expert on classic rock. it’s Point of KNOW Return.
Carry on, my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life’s no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
RIP Robby
His violin work was fantastic in Born on Wings of Steel.
Some great innovative riffs.
"Dust In the Wind Scene" in Old School. Classic. RIP.
great stuff. I guess groups were given the freedom to take more chances back then. They certainly did. Lutes, lyres, mandolins, flutes, violins, horn sections, chord progressions that weren’t 1-4-5-6, changing tempos, changing keys. There was a lot more variety, and Kansas made the most of it.
Soon he will be dust in the wind.
There isn’t violin on Carry On. Robbie just banged a tambourine and sang on that song, I believe. Loved his violin work on a bunch of their other stuff - Song for America, Miracles out of Nowhere, etc..
Kansas was one of my favorite groups growing up.
Carry On My Wayward Son is still my all time Number One favorite song.
Still have my Left Overture album.... Love Miracles out of Nowhere....
The soundtrack of my youth is fading away. RIP.
“ Loved his violin work on a bunch of their other stuff - Song for America, Miracles out of Nowhere, etc..”
Agreed…especially Song for America.
RIP.
I see what you did there.
