Daniel Craig reveals why he wanted to do 1 more Bond film
GMA via Yahoo ^ | July 19th, 2021 | DANIELLE LONG

For Daniel Craig, 2015's "Spectre" was the last time he thought he'd be playing the iconic James Bond.

"I thought I probably was physically not capable of doing another," Craig, who suffered a torn meniscus during filming, told Total Film. "For me, it was very cut and dried that I wasn't coming back."

However, the opportunity to explore a different side of Bond drew the English actor back in for one last hoorah.

"It's interesting to explore his emotions, because he's a cut-off character. He doesn't feel like other people, because he's a killer," he explained. "On 'Casino' he loses the love of his life, and then the shutters come down. On 'Quantum,' the flawed movie that it is, it's about revenge. And 'Skyfall' is about M. It's about loss. They're big themes. And I think, 'Yeah! Why not have big themes?'"

On reading your post, I was shocked to realize I’d forgotten about Brosnan. Guess that says enough. Like you said, somewhere in between.

“I like him mean.”

Me too. That’s why Craig is the best.

Technically Bond is retired in the newest movie and the 007 moniker is a black, female agent.

Idris Elba is the black guy being considered as the next Bond.

At least the Secret Agent Super Dragon franchise is safe.

Casino Royale is still amazing.

Really?

Didn't make much sense to me.

The most physical, and therefore the most credible James Bond ever.

Yep, he was my all time favorite Bond.......

And I will not see that one. First Bond movie I've missed.

Yeah I thought I’d get a little static about Roger Moore.

Just didn’t seem like a tough guy to me

The lady that owns Bonds says Bond will always be a male, and I wonder why he supposedly had the 007 number removed from his credentials.

“Who? Robert Shaw?”

In FRWL, it strikes me that Robert Shaw as “Grant” is a ringer for Michael Pence.
Earliest screen recollection of Robert Shaw is in 1955’s “Dam Busters”. He portrayed Sgt. John Pulford who served as co-pilot for Guy Gibson.

How many remember, or even know about, Barry Nelson, the first actor to play James Bond (as an American) in the 1954 TV version of Casino Royale: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_Royale_(Climax!)

I bought a VHS copy of it in the 1990s.
