A football has accompanied the VEEP since the Carter Administration.

The third football is a backup and kept at the White House.

I don’t know about bubbles bursting, but in the present atmosphere of treasonous betrayal, I don’t believe Pence would have been given access to a live nuke football. Only one way to know for sure it’s operational, right? Pence was compromised from the beginning so I don’t think his would ‘work’. I don’t believe Biden’s is operational because we’d be speaking Chinese right now, or trying.

So they can exist and be assigned but the US wouldn’t give the nuke football to a foreign power, or those conspiring to overthrow the US. Just my 2.
