Hmm, so an Amazon tablet is a Kindle thingumbob?

Yes, tis. I need to go into Barnes and Noble and see if their Nook is a tablet or just a reading device.

Thanks. DH has a nook and it is just a reading device, he likes it so much he got another one. It’s very easy to put books on it. I do not know the details but can get him to tell me. A friend staying with us liked it so much she got one and then got more for friends. They last a long time with recharge because they are “paper white”, not backlit, easy on the eyes. There may be options.

Regular Kindles aren't tablets -- they just do book reading. Amazon tablets, like other tablets, run the Kindle app.

Same with Nook. Most Nooks are for books, only. However, there's 10" Nook tablet now.
