The case files had been pawed through so much that the info was hardly secure. Also the autopsy report went “missing” from the case long ago.

Dillion was questioned a year after the case. It was the day of true crime magazines etc (and certainly we’ve seen the British press even in the modern era pay to get “scoops” from police) but I don’t know how pawed the files would’ve been in 1948.
