IIRC there was a USN P8 Orion aircraft patrolling the area when TWA800 was shot down. Reasonable questions have never been asked or answered in public.
1) Was presence of Navy surveillance plane common in that area, or was this unusual?
2) Was it participating in any sort of “exercise” at the time?
3) What did it pick up at the time of the incident? Highly precise, timestamped surveillance is part of what this type of aircraft does. Did the FBI or CIA analyze copies of all data from the plane?
4) Were all members of the crew identified and interviewed? Jack Cashill solicits new sources to come forward — the P8 crew would be his best bet, since they were witnesses, not perpetrators. No doubt they have been sworn to secrecy.
5) Did the FBI have any foreknowledge that something might be happening? With many incidents, the FBI was heavily involved all along. Did they arm up some terrorists to heroically catch only to have another booboo?
Nitpicky, but you must mean a P-3. The P-8 (Poseidon) wasn't in service at the time.
