The thread inspired me to listen to “The White Album” (on YT) in its entirety. It is the digitally remastered version from 2009, and even though I haven’t listened in over a half-century, I find the remastered version lacking in the warmth and nuance of the original vinyl. (Yes...I remember the sound as well as all the lyrics and harmonies)
Of course, the last time I heard this was on a Marantz Turntable with a Harmon-Karden amp pumping the signal into Dad’ dishwasher-sized Altec-Lansing Voice-of-the-Theater Speakers with 15” Woofers, and High Frequency Horns rockin the neighborhood off its foundations.
A far cry from the whiny digital signal coming out of my computer speakers.
Those Were The Days.
Number 9,
Number 9,
Number 9,
Number 9,
Number 9...
“A far cry from the whiny digital signal coming out of my computer speakers.”
I feel the same way when I listen to music on my computer. I usually burn it to CD and play it on my trucks CD player when I, all too infrequently, drive somewhere.
Digitally remastered is okay but I sometimes find myself missing the hissing, popping and cracking of vinyl. Must be me bemoaning my long lost youth.
