Indeed. Kavanaugh's treatment at the hands of the Senate Committee could just as easily have been a warning show across his bow. They knew he was going to be confirmed -- Trump had the votes wrapped up -- so perhaps they were just reminding him how difficult things would be for him if he stepped out of line.

I do not see Kavanaugh as a black hat. Trump is the exact opposite of stupid, clueless or a tool in others’ hands.
