There's a lot of young people on that flight. I would focus on males over 35 or 40. Even in 1988 there weren't that many females in high-level positions. Anyone younger wouldn't have the kind of enemies that would take down a plane to get rid of them. That leaves a small number.
... unless the kids themselves were the target, as a message to someone else.
... or unless it was just plain old terrorism.
