The last thing the UK’s Deep State wants is a happy, patriotic citizenry that is feeling its oats and is champing at the bit.
Italy is a lost cause.
The UK is not.
I’m rooting for the Brits and the Three Lions. :-)
Can’t root for kneelers.
I see ESPN has the TV rights for the US.
Feh.
Anyone know if the game will be available on the radio/shortwave?
I’m rooting for the country, not the team. :-)
Wasn’t able to see the final live, watched the replay on FS1, the feed froze with 3-4 minutes left and then was subjected to 10+ minutes of commercials until a baseball game came on. No explanation, no post match commentary. It was like it never happened. Glad for Messi, although it would have been great to see him score.
How England fans voted on the Three Lions taking the knee
Note to the kneelers: Don't kneel like servants to Deep State. Act like you've got a pair, stand straight and proud as free men.
The England team has been kneeling during the national anthem throughout this tournament. Dopes.
LOL, I remember having to listen to the 78 World Cup Final on BBC World Service.
I believe that soccer (or "football," as it is called in Britain) is, indeed, quite popular here in Europe.
I have lived here in Germany for nigh on to 40 years, and every now and then, Fußball manages to rise above the background noise of my everyday life and tangentially impinge upon my consciousness - rather like the "Eurovision" contest televised annually, of which I generally become aware a few days after the broadcast.
In the course of the four decades I have spent here, I have actually watched 2-3 minutes of it on airport tv screens and such.
My impression is that it is about as popular here as American football is in the States.
Regards,
Is this a cycling event?
Many moons ago we were in Europe for a World Cup.
It was nuts.
Since we didn’t have a dog in the hunt, we were Switzerland. Our table was neutral territory for the duration.
I should say during a World Cup. We didn’t go. But you couldn’t get away from it. :-)
I’m in western Canada, football and hockey are common, but these days it seems that as more people wake up and look around, they’re not tuning as much anymore, wondered if that was the case there too. I have no idea how many Europeans are snapping out of their comas. I know my old country Hungary is quite alert now.
I’ll watch when they can use their hands.
At least the bar and pub owners seem to be making up for some business lost during the lockdown. The English are drinking beer like crazy right now.
“Is this stuff quite popular in Europe?”
Now that’s funny right there, your quote gave me a good chuckle.
For those unaware, the top soccer players make more money than any other athletes in the world. The amount of money generated and the popularity over there is immense.
The England team has been kneeling during the national anthem throughout this tournament. Dopes.
Um, Denmark is out. England took Denmark out in the semis. Finals is between England and Italy.
They pay big bucks for watching girlie men run around kicking a ball? Highest paid? Dang.
I was dodging bullets and IEDs, and I didn’t get paid much. Where were you before with this information?
