How does the flavor hold up? Freezer-burned meat is pretty nasty.

I dry a fair bit of food with a hot-air dehydrator. Would freeze drying be effective to remove more water from already dehydrated food? I don’t have an extra freezer to devote to freeze drying, though.

It tastes the same as any other freeze dried foods. And much better than just dehydrated foods. The reason normal freeze drying has that off taste it because it took so long to Subliminate. You want to do it reasonably quick, like in a couple weeks.

But when you are preparing foods for an extremely long storage life and survival purposes, Taste is not going to be a priority when you do need it. But it really is surprising.
