LJ be careful with the baking soda. Shampoos kinda need to be acidic because your scalp oil is acidic. Remember all those “pH balanced” commercials? There was something to that. I know from experience that baking soda will make your hair dry and brittle over time. It happened to me. I switched to just ACV and my hair stopped falling out and became stronger than ever. A little dab of coconut oil rubbed into the scalp is all I need for control. I have thick curly Irish hair, but it’s short. No poo is a difficult journey for longer hair. But one should never put alkaline soap on their scalp if it can be avoided.
PS on the above. There WILL be a healing crisis if one switches to no poo. Dandruff will be a problem, but you have to ride it out.
I neglected to add that I always use a diluted vinegar rinse after washing out the b.soda or soap. Other wise all sorts of horridness. Probably about 2 T of vinegar in a quart of water, rub in, and then rinse that out. I use white vinegar, I always have gallons on hand for cleaning and other uses. Yeah, that acid mantle on the skin needs to be kept intact! I never, ever use soap on my skin other than hands btw....
