The NCAA and member universities have made big money off of these athletes. I support the athletes making money off of their NIL.
I’m old, not a fan of change, but this is only fair.

I disagree.
Most get scholarships, right? If they didn’t have talent, most of them would either never have been accepted, or have had to pay for their education on their own.
Not a fan of any college sport at all. It will destroy it, which I suppose I won’t miss, but many will.
17 year old athletes with greed. I can see it coming. Holdouts. Strikes. Refusal to attend.

With this decision schools are forced to share the revenue that is generated by the college athletes.
I wouldn't be surprised if the schools are going to feel the pinch of that lost revenue and it is going to trickle down to athletes in the lesser programs.
When the football and basketball players are skimming half of the schools take, that lost money is going to mean a lot of field hockey, lacrosse, diving and maybe gymnasts etc. could see their sport put on a pay your own way set up.
If your sport can't generate enough of a gate, it may be gone.

I understand the argument, but I believe we’re on the cusp of the end of college athletics. Widespread unionization of athletes will be the nail in the coffin. Unions will demand the end of eligibility rules like class loads and number of years you can play. Once they’re full blown professionals I can’t see the appeal.
I’m old, not always a fan of change, so I might be wrong of course.

their name, image and likness would be NO WHERE without a huge set up by universities and all those paying tuition and for tickets and advertising, etc.....
the universities made the stage....athletes would go no where without that stage....
