That is a really good question and something that will have to be worked out. I don’t think the universities can pull scholarships already granted without looking punitive. But who knows about future grants?
I predict the “hot-commodity” athletes will now gin up more PR for themselves than the athletic department marketing ever could. The schools, through the increased exposure, will also probably reap benefits from the increased exposure. I don’t think the schools will lose at all from this.
