That's IT! How do you know about Harris grade?
We called it the 'windy road' cause, on the way out of town, there is an intersection where, turn left and head to Vandenberg, Santa Maria, and the hookup to the freeway. Go straight and its Harris grade, a short-cut to the freeway north.
Us kids would be all like 'Windy road! Windy road!', like the obnoxious brats what we were.
We'd hit the stop light and hold our breath. If left, 'Awwwww...'. If straight, 'YAY! Dad is great! Give us the chocolate cake!'.

I grew up in SLO and I remember a couple of times we went to Lompoc for basketball games? My sister dated the captain of the team ๐๐งก. (he was handsome!) She scared the jujubees outta me.
I don’t remember Lompoc being a rival of ours at all.. so maybe we just went and watched??
We were, with the exception of creepy ghosts, pretty fearless. ๐
