If we can “do math,” they cannot control us.

Interesting! I hope it’s also about personality, since I am math illiterate. I’m allergic to numbers. But even as a kid I always had a thing about being controlled. Someone once asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said, “In charge.” lol I just wanted to wear soft socks and cut my Sees candy in half so I didn’t get any surprises like apricots.
I wish I could do math, but it becomes puffs of smoke in my brain.
Punchbowl News reported that McCarthy will reportedly strip any Republican member of committee assignments if they serve on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 committee.
“During a closed-door meeting with freshman House Republicans, McCarthy said: If they do, ‘they better be ready to get all their committee assignments from her,” the outlet reported.

If you add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and understand why/when/how to use those operations, then you can “do math”. Everything else builds on and is connected to those algorithms/patterns.
A few most important concepts, from this 7th-grade math teacher’s perspective, is realizing the inverse relationships (undoing) of addition/subtraction and multiplication/division, the fraction bar means divide, a ratio is a comparison of two quantities, and following the order of operations.
