We had to pack up most of the house just to get it ready to list. They want it almost empty, so that’s what we did. The downstairs unit is pretty much empty, upstairs the kitchen cupboards and closets need to be packed. Not much else.
I ordered a moving box. I think it’s a great system. They come and plunk the 20’ x 8’ container in your driveway. It’s about $560 for the first month. You load it up at your leisure. So it arrives on Aug. 3rd, and gets picked up Aug. 27th and is dropped off at the farm.
The home won’t be there yet, so it can stay as long as you want. It’s only $150 a month after that, so we can take as long as we want unloading it. I think it’s a great way to move. We just pack all the stuff we need first, last. Then get the kids to bring some boxes in every day and put everything away. Undoubtedly we’ll find more stuff to pitch, so, thankfully, there’s a dumpster on the farm.
After that’s done, it will be time for the snow to fall, so I will just hibernate for the next few months lol. The good thing is that now the little one can come over to my place for her schooling! I can also do the laundry at my place, and cook up some meals to take some of the pressure off of my daughter. It will give me something productive to do and help her....win, win.
I love those pods! We did that when we moved out here. I think we had about three of them, and they held everything in a 3000 square-foot house. So much cheaper than using a moving company.
I think your daughter is going to be thrilled to have you that close. And of course the grandkids especially.
