My understanding is it’s a privately chartered plane, not a commererical carrier, so no mask required. They’re not wearing masks in their photo at the US Capitol either.

I believe I read (but can’t locate quickly) that the Texas Democratic Party paid for the charter planes (appears there were 2 planes?) but I haven’t seen about payment for hotel rooms, food, etc.

Looks like the Texas House has voted to arrest Democrats who fled the state. Back in 2003 when they fled to Oklahoma, the OK Governor allowed the Texas National Guard to come to OK and round them up.

Doubt that Muriel Bowser will allow that.

AUSTIN, Texas—Texas state House members voted 76-4 to send law enforcement to find and return absent Democrats “under warrant of arrest, if necessary,” a day after dozens of Democratic House members fled the state in an effort to kill election legislation.

The body cannot approve legislation without a two-thirds quorum of its 150 members.

Tuesday’s state House vote came as the state Senate was preparing to consider its own version of the elections bill. Some Democratic senators were also absent Tuesday, but the body had enough members to conduct business.

In the House, 80 members who came Tuesday morning voted to approve a procedural move to record who is present, ban members from leaving the chamber without approval and call for law enforcement to track down absentee lawmakers—arresting them if necessary and forcing them to return to the chamber. A total 63 of the body’s 67 Democrats were gone, two of them with approved absences.

The vote to arrest members is one of the few actions the House is allowed to take with just the members present, not a quorum of the full body, under House rules outlining how to secure a quorum. Such arrests wouldn’t come with a criminal penalty, but law enforcement could forcibly return members to the chamber and lock them there until House business concludes. However, House members acknowledged that Texas law enforcement has no authority to do that outside of the state.

The call on the House led the chamber’s doors to be locked. Members who are present must receive written permission from the speaker each time they leave the chamber. Republican House members said Tuesday they plan to abide by those rules and be present daily until their colleagues return.

The fact that fully loaded charter planes do not require passengers to wear masks shows that the requirement to wear a mask on a commercial plane is NOT science based for health reasons. Is it just to control and subjugate we peons who fly commercial?
