Tectonic plate movement. Continents don’t stay put; they wander around.

I thought of that but the map shows Antarctica was about the same place then as it is now.

Without the constriction of the Bering Strait, I would guess that there would be much stronger ocean currents between the equator and the poles, keeping things fairly even.
