Ha, ha. The slant six matched with the torqueflite was invincible. If I had had half a brain, I would have sold the Lincoln and the Avanti and kept the LeBaron. I would have saved a pile of money and frustration. But I wouldn't as many funny car stories, like when the Lincoln's steering wheel came off when My wife was driving it.
No kidding. I was working with my father out front when sis pulled up in the Valiant one hot Florida afternoon with the AC on.
She casually got out and told my father that she had seen ‘smoke’ from the front and the guy at the gas station (8 city miles away) said to have her father fill the coolant when she got home. By the time she got home there was no steam - NO COOLANT left!
My father restarted it, got the hose and slowly misted and filled the radiator. Ran fine till he traded it years later.
