I understand their emotion, but a people does not cease to be a people because of a day on the calendar or a political sundering.
They are Chinese in the strictest sense of the word.
Quick sidenote:
I once worked with a lad from Northern Ireland. He had been a po-po over there. Or a bobby, or whatever.
He once told me he was an Irishman (because he was from Northern Ireland).
I corrected him. I told him he was a land grabbing sassenach and an occupying saxon.
Living on the land does not make you part of the land.

This one time? At a gang confreence? This white cop from Hawaii had the nerve to call himself 'Hawaiian'.
I corrected him also and told him he wasn't 'Hawaiian', but rather a haoli. He took umbrage, for some reason, and got a little feisty. Not sure why, its only the truth.
Why did he want to be Hawaiian so bad?
