I’m not from Idaho, but I saw a potato bug one time in my neighbor’s yard in CA when I was eight and it made quite an impression on me. I never forgot it.

Sow bugs...
Sowbugs and pillbugs are similar-looking pests which are more closely akin to shrimp and crayfish than to insects. They are the only crustaceans that have adapted to living their entire life on land. Sowbugs and pillbugs live in moist environments outdoors but occasionally end up in buildings.
So is anyone up to some Creole? Or should we put this on the cook’n thread?

I think you are closer than I was. Would need to see the top side of the bug. The strips on the underside of the abdomen looks like a honey bee. but I can also see the stripes are similar to the Jerusalem cricket.
