Interesting comment. The house my family owned when I was a teenager got sold when my parents moved to a retirement community some years before their passing. It was bought by a couple who rented it out for several years, before ultimately demolishing it and building their “dream house” (read McMansion) in its place.

During the interim period I drove by on a visit to town, and chanced to meet the man who was renting the old house, introducing myself as one who’d come of age there. To my surprise, he told me that he and his wife couldn’t wait to move out, because the place was haunted! He swore that a ghostly “presence” lived there, and had directly interacted with them. He detailed a number of very weird and unnerving occurrences that they, as well as some very frightened overnight guests at the house, had experienced.

Nothing even remotely like them had ever happened during the years my family was there, though. It was quite bizarre. I have to wonder now about the McMansion owners!

That can happen. All it takes to start it is a change to the house, like some remodeling or razing the house and building a new one.

Some hauntings are unintelligent, it’s like playing a tape over and over again. Other are very intelligent. You don’t want those. Could be a ghost...or worse. Houses get possessed too.
