Mars is subjected to wind storms with wind speeds of 400 mph for weeks at a time. A lot of the surface of Mars is made of silica, the stuff would be like shrapnel.

Have robots build a landing pad with sides that curve up slightly.

Exactly! I used to have a lot of contempt and scorn for those who dared to express doubt about the Moon Landing.
That was back when I had a lot of trust in my Government to always be truthful with the public. Now...Jury’s still out.

TAKING OFF from Mars?

Haven't even done it with robotics yet. I can see how parachutes could be employed, even in the thin atmosphere of Mars to help slow the descent, but humans will be hosed once they are landed.

Unless it turns out that all those UFOs the government is talking about are some kind of secret antigravity technology from Lockheed, then we won't be doing any manned round trips to other planets any time soon.

“Mars is subjected to wind storms with wind speeds of 400 mph for weeks at a time. “

But Mars’ atmosphere is 1% as dense as the Earth’s so those winds have the force of a 4 mph breeze.

That was the biggest error in the Martian movie. The wind on Mars would have no effect on their spacecraft beyond a light coating of dust.

"So just take a Tesla car with you to drive from the rocket to the base which now can be miles apart."

I think the first vehicle for people on Mars will be a slightly modified Tesla because Who wouldn't want to own a car that had been driven on Mars? Elon already put a Tesla in space and it was marketing genius.

If would be one thing if the moon landings were the only lie. Sadly, that's the least of it.

WW1, Titanic, WW2, JFK murder, 911, Covid...

Thanks for the info. A lot has changed since my days of high school science.

Waste of time and money.

Getting to at least triple redundancy for manned missions, increases the costs over 10 fold vs. an unmanned mission.

Not to mentions that we can also include all the material analytical tools on the trip and eliminate the need for a return flight.

We aren’t going to Mars. There’s no rational reason.

Just figuring out how to do so and doing it are reason enough, and in any case, private companies will soon have the means to do so without the government being directly involved.

They’re not worried about taking off from Mars, because it’s understood if anyone is stupid enough to go there, it’s a one-way trip.

We should send all of the globalists there as a penal colony. There they can prove all of their economic theories far from nationalist contamination.

For any article that asks a question as the title, the answer is “no.”

And I sure hope Mars or some other place is made habitable because that will be the only freedom alternative to what the U.S. and world will become.

When our astronauts put the American flag on Mars, how did they get back to earth?

Unless it gets some of that sand up to the 400 mph.

They drove back to the moon, then to Chicago.

Back to Chicago? That’s why Sheila Jackson-Lee, down there in Houston, was ill-informed. (If only there was a NASA Visitor’s Center near where she lives so she could learn about our space exploration.)
