Several decades ago, someone stole a pair of pink plastic flamingoes from someone’s lawn. The couple whose flamingos had been stolen started receiving postcards from around the world with a photo featuring the flamingos. They went around the entire world, then reappeared in the couple’s yard. Every time the couple received a postcard, they gave it to the newspaper, which published it.
Quite a hoot, actually.
Several years back when student were coming in for the last day of school, hundreds of gnomes were on their schools front lawn. Apparently as a senior prank gnomes from the whole district found themselves there. The local police requested those missing gnomes to stop by to collect them.
