Cold days are often beautiful because the air is so clear. They’re great days for sitting inside and looking out the window.
They’re also great days for flying. The air is so dense the plane gets high fast and you can see forever. Back before UPT the Air Force gave us 25 hours of lessons our senior year to reduce the chances of us crashing a trainer jet. My 25 hours were in a very cold climate. It was the best way to slip the surlies.
Once I get into the air, I’m OK with flying. Takeoff isn’t so bad, as it reminds me of being in a drag race. But I’ve always dreaded the landings, for some reason.
However, I do understand your love of flying, and glad you were able to slip the surlies as often as you could. My Thanksgiving wish for you: May all your dreams be spent flying in cold clear air!
