Private or not, hospitals will get on folks’ case about masks.
Case in point,
I almost got thrown out of a VA hospital because I was wearing a mask folded in two so it just covered mouth & nose, under a clear face shield.
I couldn’t understand what the Dr was saying to me and earlier I had told her that I was hearing disabled and read lips (she was saying “fix the mask; if you won’t comply I’ll have to ask you to leave”), and the person I was helping (eye appt & had eyes dilated so couldn’t drive) had to shout so I could understand and then fix the mask.
Before we went in the clinic, the person I was helping had asked the receptionist if I could wear just the face shield because hearing disabled were exempt from masks per the state health Dept law; the reply was “we don’t follow state law”.
P.s.
The VA hospital is in CA; I’m visiting and helping out.
