That knot was tied in 1972. Still going strong.
My recollection was they rusted very quickly.
Funny you should mention that. I was out walking with some friends when one of them said that Ford was coming out with a new small truck, the Maverick. I didn’t need to write down the name. I just mentally connected it with the old TV series.
I guess we’re both showing our age.
I owned a 1971 Ford Maverick. Flouresent Lime Green. In line 6 cyl. It was a great car, easy to work on, until the MN salt on the winter roads rusted it out from under me.
So did the rest of the Japanese import fleet.
I understand the thinking there wouldn’t be demand but what is the safety issue with no back seat and/or long bed?
The Ranger name originally was used on a version of the Edsel
Front wheel drive, hybrid drivetrain with electric motor.
I have two Subaru Outbacks, one with 150k, and another with 90k.
No problems with them yet. While the Outback is just a sedan with a 4 cylinder, I do a fair amount of light towing (~1000lbs) .
Not real sure I’d want a “truck” of any type with a CVT, but then, I’m not sure I classify this thing as a “truck”.
The Maverick Grabber was not a bad little hot rod in the smog era. Still lots of Mavericks on the drag strip.
Horrible. The Maverick was a fast fun little inexpensive car. Not a pickup. And now they have a Mustang SUV?
Ford has lost it’s mind, and not in a creative good way.
Makes enormous sense to me that they would follow up the Bronco Sport with a similar sized pickup truck. Everything has grown so much. A Honda Accord is almost 200 inches long. The Civic got so big, Honda had to make the Fit.
It makes sense to me. I hate the continuously variable transmission. Such a shame they won’t build a 2 door. Yes, they sell in smaller numbers but still, such a shame.
Look up the early Courier sedan delivery model. The 57 with the super charger was especially nice.
Lol, like those used by Subaru, the safest car on the road and the one that holds it’s value best. You sure got your standards.

My Dad had Maveric, ran well for a couple of years then started dying and not starting, towed to the dealer a few times, still bad.
One night it died in traffic on the way home, someone behind pushed him off to the side.
He took a cab to the chevy dealer and came home with a new Impala.
A friend of mine bought the Maveric.
Someone told him the larger connector at the firewall with about 20 wires was the problem.
He pulled the connector out and soldered all the connections. Never another problem,
Drove it for ten plus years and the rust was getting bad.
Still running well get gave it to a younger relative, ran until it died of cancer.
They were. Small block V8 would drop right in. :)
My mom’s was green with a white top. There was a four door also.
My 2019 F150 is a terrific truck that I have had not one iota of problems with.
