“Maybe the Pasco County police made the visit to prevent his being a troublemaker in his new home.”

You’re okay with that !?!?

(maybe our current left fascist governnment could compile lists and pay visits too)

I was speculating on the cops’ motivation for the visit, that’s all. I don’t really know what they had in mind. But if it were to prevent a kid from getting in to further trouble, I don’t see the problem. I didn’t read the article (naturally!). Was the kid arrested during the visit?

Many years ago I worked with delinquents. Nearly all of them were already on the road to a life of crime and incarceration. It would be a good thing to try and change that trajectory.

In any case, juveniles are treated completely differently in law than adults. The juvenile justice system is supposed to try and turn kids’ lives around as opposed to punish them for what they’ve done. (I used ‘supposed’ on purpose.) Juvenile authorities can detain juveniles for non crimes. This is especially true for girls. They don’t often because of expense, but they can.

I’m sure they’d like to and quite possibly are doing it. But there’s a big difference. Police, the government, cannot detain adults based on what they think someone is likely to do. At least as long as our Constitution is intact.
