“My mama said that ‘conservative’ meant ‘to conserve (or preserve) time tested and proven traditions, values, and practices.”
Your mama was a very wise woman and I totally agree with her.
What I’m pointng out is the flip side of that sentiment, which is because we’re so respectful of what’s worked in the past, that makes us weary of and reluctant to accept new ideas.
Unless we’re more open to new ideas and ways of doing things (and yes with a healthy dose of skepticism) we’ll be stuck in the past.
The enemy of Coservatism is radicalism. I hardly consider a vaccine that has gone through a thorough testing and whose development was orchestrated by Trump, radical.
Do you?
Guess what else my mama said.
She said the 'conservatives', in the true meaning of the word, are solely responsible throughout history for every innovation known to man.
We are the ants. Anti-conservatives are the grasshopper. Are you familiar with that fable?
It is instructive.

Just got off the phone with mama.
She says the culture has been hijacked by the former radicals and they are now the establishment.
She says we are now the radicals.
What should I tell my mama?
What’s the difference between medial achievements of yesterday vs. today?
The Internet.

Pro tip: The poison hasn't gone through 'thorough testing'.
Exhibit A: Operation Warp Speed.
