Abbott is following Ron Desantis’ lead. He is not a leader. However, if he gets in a primary with Paxton he will be in trouble.

I’ve said the exact same thing.
Agree, completely.
Maybe on Paxton, but his performance on the Texas Lawsuit vs the Big Steal (forever shall it be known) reminds me of a collie dog we used to herd goats 50 years ago. Boy was he smart! Tell him and his partner to “pen em” and you could consider 500 goats penned. And that’s no exaggeration.
But, he also knew bad guys too. One day a neighboring rancher drove up in his pickup and that little collie ran and hid. We always suspected that rancher had kicked him or maybe even shot at him.
I think Paxton mismanaged that lawsuit and then ran and hid when the Robert’s group of liberals ruled against him. Abbott doesn’t kick doors in I agree. But, he’s steady, in my humble opinion.
As a result, many Texas conservatives are sick and tired of the pro-freedom rhetoric and statist policies of the GOP establishment. I doubt Trump is familiar with the details of Texas politics, so I will give him a pass on his endorsement of Abbott.
