I set In Flanders Fields to music, and created a song. My band and I recorded it a while back. We played it at a Memorial Day celebration in Black Canyon City, AZ to honor those who have served and never came home. Freedom is never free. Someone always pays the cost.
When I was a kid we recited that poem....
We went to school from first of June till Tuesday after Labor Day
I don’t remember which holiday we said it. We didn’t get off then
Thanksgiving three days
Christmas two weeks
Teachers two day break in spring
Good Friday
That was it....1960s
Thank you. I don’t post much. Guess I did it wrong.

My grandfather was a sergeant in the American Expeditionary Force. He survived St. Mihiel and the battles of The Meuse-Argonne in 1918.
Maybe its the 11th day, 11th hour, the 11th month.
A couple of other favorites of their songs are:
'To Hell and Back' about Audie Murphy.
'82nd All the Way about Alvin York.
Yes, Sabaton fan here ;^)
That was very good. Thanks for sharing!
