and for the record- something that isn’t apparent at first glance, the ‘object’ shrinks when it gets to the level of horizon as it blink in and out of view- Here is an analysis of the video and that fact- and it also describes what i saw- the weird blinking in and out of the object

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAfiJqUHDg0

Again- if you want to discuss it civilly- I’ll be more than happy to- something weird happened- but it could be something that has a perfectly reasonable explanation. It could very well be that there was an actual ‘splash’ or it could have been a figure of speech by the people on the video to indicate they lost track of the object at that point, and he said it was a splash to explain the disappearance of the object? (They don’t seem to have tracked it under the water, or been able to- i don’t know- but the video shuts off right at that point- with the fella saying ‘splash, ‘mark it’)- or it could have been an actual splash obscured by spraying water- I don’t know- all i can do is view the video-

You’re too hung-up on the video image. Even the latest 4GEN night vision optics (which are themselves a technological marvel) can sometimes produce unsteady images (particularly at distance) that can be prone to temporary flashing, hazing or flickering. While the sailors are looking at the video too, they’re also focused on the other data that is superimposed on the MFD. That data is fed into the MFD from a variety of other sensor platforms. They could be/probably are being fed range and bearing data from multiple platforms. It’s the redundancy of these combat systems that make their data so reliable.

IOW, the sailors in CIC whose voices are heard on the video, are basing their observations on the totality of the information that they’re digesting in real time not just the FLIR video, as they’re trained to. This is the point laymen don’t seem to understand and instead, focus on the peculiarities of the video images themselves which is often a rabbit hole.

When the COOL said, ‘mark it’ it was likely out of habit because normally the ‘it’ would have been an aircraft of some kind and they would have needed to know immediately where to tell search & rescue to look for debris. We don’t know exactly what happened after that video ended, but according to multiple accounts, there was a search initiated and nothing was found. There hasn’t been any comment from the Navy on that search or if SONAR on board the Omaha picked anything up.

We don’t know what it was. But, it’s virtually impossible that it was an electronic aberration because whatever it was, it was detected by a number of different systems using a variety of sensing technologies. Presuming it didn’t simply ‘blink out’ of existence, whatever it was almost certainly hit the water, either submerging intact or simply disintegrating.
