The three-year investigation, codenamed Operation ‘Angels Envy,’ led to seizures of 473lbs of meth; 42 kilos of fentanyl; and 129 kilos of cocaine
Officials said they confiscated enough fentanyl to kill combined populations of Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and nearby counties. Federal and local authorities also arrested 33 suspects, and seized 114 illegal guns and $6million in cash, jewelry and cars. The investigation focused on a trafficking network that ferried drugs from the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico through California.
