John Wesley Powell said in an off the cuff remark jesting he seen Figurine's like the Nampa figurine played with by the local Indians. It was a pointless statement then and today.

That is all it took to "debunk" the Nampa figurine then and by some today.

It really comes down to wanting to believe there were no advanced civilizations before us. Rather then looking at the evidence. Even if you discounted Nampa figurine there is tons of evidence that we today call the Clovis people where far more advanced then we give them credit.
