If you can plant clover and beans (maybe too late in some areas), I have read they can help fix bad soil.

I don’t know what happened last summer but after that Sahara dust came through, my garden here in GA really went kaput. A fungus took over every plant I had, that has never happened before. I called our state agriculture office about it and he said it was bad for everyone and didn’t know why.

I’ve heard that too. I have been growing fruit because that grows well here. I know there are fungi in the soil and that all of my bare-root plants failed until I brought in some with soil (and probably the relevant beneficial fungus). I’m sorry to hear your strawberries all got wiped out, must have been good conditions for whatever that fungus was.
