FWIW, virtually all vets promote Hill’s. They seem to have a corner on the vet office market. That doesn’t mean it’s good, though. I wonder how much $$$ Hill’s gives them for having those nice big food assortment displays in their waiting areas?
Most vets, like most people doctors, study little if anything about their patients’ nutritional needs. When I was on a feline nutrition and natural recipe forum, (not to imply that I cook for my cats, and FWIW again), they referred to Hill’s as “Science Died”.

Actually, (I handle the books for the clinic) the answer is $ZERO.
Hill's has promotions, discounts and buy-backs just like any other supplier of product of any kind in any business.

Yep. Unless they take a specific interest in nutrition, they pretty much ignore it. How much time do you suppose the buyers at Walmart or your local Supermarket (Or PetCo for that matter) spend on studying pet nutrition?

Internet forums are fine; take this one for example.
But we deal with real, live animals in the real world. Not just one or two or a dozen. Hundreds.
We see and examine the animals, speak face-to-face with the owners and observe, in person, the results over a period of years, in some cases the entire life of the animal.
People will say "But Fluffy just LOVES her Brand XXX food!" I say "You know, your dog will lick the antifreeze off the garage floor because he likes the way it tastes."
