Just FYI, it took less than 30 seconds to find the Red Cross statement about this where they say they’re just doing what FDA says to do, and that the FDA recently updated their guidance.
In other words, it took longer to post this story than it did to find out it’s false.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The thread post is 100% true. I transcribed the spoken text faithfully. The Red Cross doesn’t want blood. If you don’t like what the newscaster said, take it up with her. NOTHING is wrong with my posting that clip.
That is false. That is contrary to what the Red Cross says themselves. People who have had a COVID-19 vaccine are "eligible to donate other blood products with the Red Cross including whole blood and platelets if they meet other donation eligibility criteria." The only thing they're not CURRENTLY able to donate is convalescent plasma and even that is changing. And even that had nothing to do with the Red Cross "not wanting" it. It was the FDA's recommendation. So Red Cross followed it. The FDA changed the recommendation. Red Cross states that they're working on changing their policy to follow the new guidance.
It's all right here in black and white:
Took 30 seconds to find this. So why post the original when it's clearly contrary to what the Red Cross states on their own site?
